Here in the UK we have a vital role to play in this international struggle. We have to force BP to drop its plans for Sunrise. If we succeed, it would not simply mean that one potential project amongst many had been thwarted. It would send shock-waves through the entire oil industry and investment community, and could even spell the beginning of the end for this particularly filthy source of fuel.
APRIL 1st – FOSSIL FOOLS DAY
An international day of action against the fossil fuel industry, conveniently marking the launch of the BP Fortnight of Shame. For action ideas, have a look at www.fossilfoolsday.org.
BP is about to join the scramble for the tar sands. ‘Beyond petroleum’ has become ‘back to black’ as BP’s plunge into the most destructive extraction project on Earth makes a mockery of its own PR greenwash.
On Fossil Fools day, 2010, London Rising Tide and the London Tar Sands Network decided to help BP with a rebranding strategy to reflect their renewed commitment to environmental devastation and catastrophic climate change.
