Opening the floodgates – podcasts now up!
FollowFirst Nations leader George Poitras was recently with us in the UK to testify to policymakers and MPs about the impacts of the Canadian tar sands industry on Indigenous Peoples in Alberta, and to encourage the UK to support the labelling of tar sands fuel as highly polluting in the EU Fuel Quality Directive (FQD).
Poitras, former Chief of the Mikisew Cree First Nation, gave a moving speech at a UK Parliamentary event hosted by Liberal Democrat Deputy Leader Simon Hughes MP, alongside renewables expert Jeremy Leggett and Greenpeace EU transport policy adviser Franziska Achterberg.
We wanted to make sure that those of you who weren’t able to make it to the event still get to hear all of the inspiring presentations. We’ve produced three podcasts, available here for download. Let us know if you find these valuable and would like us to make similar ones for future events.
